Comfortable root canal Treatment

You read that right! Dr. Aygen uses advanced techniques and technology to provide safe, effective, comfortable root canals.

If you’re like most people, you probably cringe when you hear the words “root canal.” You might have had a bad experience with a root canal in the past, or you may have heard horror stories from a friend.

The truth, however, is that the root canal is quite misunderstood. It’s actually a valuable treatment that allows us to save an infected tooth we might otherwise have to extract.

Thanks to advances in dental techniques and improvements in the precision of dental technologies, most root canals these days are efficient and even comfortable! Dr. Aygen has invested in technology that significantly improves the experience of getting a root canal, and patients are often amazed at how simple and painless the procedure turns out to be.

Why Do I Need a Root Canal?

Root canal therapy is performed when you have an infection in the soft interior of your tooth. This infection can be quite painful; in fact, we suspect that most of the fear of root canals is based on the discomfort of the infection that requires treatment!

This infection will not subside on its own, and it may spread to your other teeth. Without treatment, you may lose the tooth. Preserving the tooth is usually better than extracting and replacing. For one thing, the treatment is less invasive, and for another, the treatment will cost you less in the long run. Maintaining the relationship between your tooth’s roots and your periodontal bone is important for the long-term health of your mouth.

How is Root Canal Treatment Performed?

Before beginning any work, Dr. Aygen will always make sure that you are numb and comfortable. If you are feeling anxious about your procedure, we can discuss sedation options, like IV sedation, that will allow you to drift calmly through your treatment.

Once you are ready, Dr. Aygen will begin by creating a small hole in the enamel of your tooth. Working through this hole with precision technology, Dr. Aygen will clean out the infection from your tooth and sterilize the interior. Once the infection is clear, he’ll fill your tooth and seal the hole to prevent reinfection.

Dr. Aygen may also recommend protecting your tooth with a crown, especially if your tooth absorbs a lot of force from chewing. Because it’s necessary to remove the nerve in a root canal, your tooth can become brittle. A crown protects and preserves your tooth.

After your root canal, some sensitivity is normal. Your immune system will soon get the message that the infection is gone and the inflammation will go away.

Do You Need a Root Canal?

Some of the symptoms associated with an infection requiring root canal treatment include:

  • Severe pain and pressure
  • Swelling in the gum surrounding the affected tooth
  • Sensitivity to touch and temperature change
  • Discoloration of the tooth
  • A pimple-like lesion on the gums

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please don’t hesitate to call Sarasota Dental Arts. We’ll assess your condition and determine whether an emergency appointment is the right choice. Dental pain is never normal, and you shouldn’t have to suffer silently.

We Love Our Patients

and our patients love us!

Just had my first visit with Sarasota Dental Arts. The staff was super friendly. Dr. Aygen gave me the most thorough dental exam I have ever had. He went over a complete dental plan with me and answered all my questions. When I left, I had a print out of what we discussed, including prices. Glad I made the switch.

I’ve had a fear of going to the dentist since I was a kid. I can honestly say after coming to the office several times that I will never go to another Dentist. My mother recommended them to me. I recommend them to everyone. The staff and Kaya Aygen, D.M.D are very nice and take the time to explain to you any questions you may have.
